Ranting Again

I will admit that it took me a bit to get to the original author here - but I did. John Henson's bloged this on October 22nd and which led me to Todd Rhoades and then finally to Gabe Lyons who co-authored the book "unChristian." The survey was of non-Christians aged 16-29 years old that were asked, “What is your current perception of Christianity?”
91% said anti homosexual
87% said judgmental
85% said hypocritical
78% said old-fashioned
75% said too involved in politics
72% said out of touch with reality
70% said insensitive to others
68% said boring
64% said not accepting of other faiths
61% said confusing

Here is Gabe Lyons in an interview.

What are your thoughts?

It isn't surprising to me because, IMO, those Christians who lead people to Jesus thru LOVE do so quietly and without fanfare. They do it thru relationship.

Those who try to lead folks to Christ by pointing fingers and placing blame or shame tend to be louder and more vocal about it.

Thankfully I'm blessed to know plenty of the former. :)

I enjoy your blog a lot!

Most of the perceptions of those who have a negative view are based on some negative experience they have had with a "Christian," or someone who drives like a jerk in a vehicle plastered with Jesus stickers and then reinforced by the negative experiences and writings of others.
Several months ago, I was in Hastings. Two employees were stocking the Christian section. One asked the other if he had read any Christian fiction. The reply was that that is all Christianity and the Bible are.
